“Prayer is the key to the heart of God. Prayer is the only way to a real and personal relationship with God.”
God is relational and because we are created in His image we are created to relate to one another and to God. The problem is we have cut God out of our lives when we choose to live our life our own way without God. That is why God sent Jesus, who paid the price of our rejection of God when he died on the cross. What God has done in Jesus is establish a peace relationship between God and us. And the great news is if we recognize our problem and God’s solution, God will treat us like we never rejected him and accept us into his family.
A sign of a healthy family relationship is dialogue and it is no different in God’s family. The normal way God speaks to us is through His word the Bible but He also wants us to respond to Him in prayer. Prayer is just us talking to God; an expression of our adoration of Him, being honest about our struggles, asking God to help us each step of the way and being thankful about what God is doing in us.
At City Central Presbyterian Church we see ourselves as a community that is dependent on God in prayer. Part of the privilege we have as Christians is coming together in prayer and supporting one another in prayer. We want to help people with their dialogue with God but we also want to invite people to join us as we come together in prayer.
